QOTD: 'With Windows Phone 7, Microsoft aims to offer a middle ground with more flexibility than Apple's dominant iOS and more certainty than the open-ended nature of the Google-built Android open-source software. Or, as Twitter user @DerickP put it while watching live coverage of the event, a "happy medium" between "iDictatorship" and "Androidarchy." ' -- Caroline McCarthy

Here is another perhaps worthy of needed conversation within Conservative circles.

"A third possibility is that Miller simply isn't as attractive a candidate as Rubio, and has failed to win the confidence of Alaskans outside of his core support group. In this regard, Miller has confronted a series of stories that, his detractors say, cast doubt on his character and his sincerity as a small government conservative."

For a long time, I personally am concerned about the 'fashion' based on Identity. A rather long walk away from serious reason - the WFB mantra of strength. Many Celebrity Conservative Pundits have pushed the 'fashion' based on image, they have enabled a rather unfair view of the imperfect GOP offering - the punishment doesn't fit the crime when studying the record.

The hype just doesn't fit the reality, quite often. We have seen this turn into self destructive nonsense, like the "lay down" mantra after 2004, which enabled the Democrats.

We see this fashion now push certain 'ideals' in image, and the reality is usually a letdown. O'Donnell might be the biggest symbol of this folly. Not that Castle is someone you would like to replace with someone better - it is just the 'fashionable hype' amongst many on the Conservative side is far from objective about it all.

Perhaps the biggest emblem of this contradictory fashionable embrace, is the Palin Franchise. Mrs. Palin did indeed provide populist tax increases for Oil Companies, grew Climate Panel bureaucracy in Alaska, and even rushed to join a disastrous Democratic Partisan LIGHT Campaign with the Maverick - which was pushing Cap and Trade. She was simply a Moderate in the manner of the Maverick Reform image, and her playing the 'common sense conservative' imagery game endlessly, is utterly different than her early career.

None of this is really that big of a deal. It is just a reminder Politicians are imperfect, and none will ever fit the Authoritarian IDENTITY movement's dream ideal. But the overt vilification and demonizing some of the moderates who are not so perfect either, in the name of this Fashionable Ideal, is far from constructive. Murkowski was turned into political competition, primarily by the Tea Party Express and the Palin Franchise, and this could have probably been avoided with a more constructive effort.

Conservatives used to be beyond all this fashionable sophistry. Certainly many are frustrated. But the O'Donnell case is a primary example of a self destructive fashionable movement gone astray.

Something suggests, (especially the vapid interviews over the past few years) that Mrs. Palin might end up being another overtly 'hyped' problem in 2012. We shall see if she is genuinely up to the task. One can hope, but a primary will help in this endeavor, but only if many are objective about the offering. The latest poll shows Mrs. Palin will be another enabling offering against the unpopular failure named Obama. Even today Obama gets 55% over Palin's 35%.

We simply cannot self destruct again, as we did with the McCain nightmare. That was a gift to Democrats, just as O'Donnell was in Delaware. And we simply cannot afford to do this anymore.

Yes, we should always strive to seek a sound Conservative, try to diminish the foolish RINO influence, but we cannot afford to be pushing a fashionable IMAGE Based movement, lacking serious substance, which gives the Democrats any "HOPE".

We have to be better than this...
